Hip Hop Abs arrived!

Day 4
211 lbs

I love that other bloggers can make daily entries in their blogs. I have grown to enjoy one blogger in particular and wait patiently for her updates. Tish from Low Carb and Lovin it Blog has been a great inspiration for me and her blog is a nice, enjoyable read.

Now, if only I can get my chaotic life in order and my priorities straight, I would make a daily entry. I have been sticking fairly low carb for the past four days and as you can see from my stats, I'm down 5 lbs. I hadn't been working out at all when I got down to 208, but I have decided to add that healthful activity into my schedule for many reasons. One, I'm sure it will help prevent my weight from fluctuating so much, even if I do have an "off" day on WOE. Two, I believe it will increase my energy level and my stamina. Three, I hope it will help to lower my blood pressure even further so that I can get back off of my bp meds. Eating well and having lost some weight already has brought the numbers down significantly, but not enough to go off of meds. Soon, I hope!

I just received Hip Hop Abs today in the mail. I have always been inspired to dance and Hip Hop Abs was my splurge to get me moving again. I'm very pleased with the video and enjoyed my first work-out this morning immensly, but Lord, Love a Duck! I am glad I can do this in the confines of my livingroom walls with no onlookers. Being as heavy as I am and so out of shape, I looked so comical. It is so heartbreaking to know I could have let myself get so out of shape.

I've resorted back to coupon shopping. I use to be very serious into saving money with my coupons, but after having my 4th son, I just let it go to the wayside. I have also been so busy with our drywall business books, homeschooling, running teenagers around, and very recently spending as much time with my mother whose cancer returned in April unfortunatley. I just haven't had time for couponing. Since I am trying to add back some hobbies, I am getting hooked on couponing and hunting for those great deals. The one disadvantage to this is that many of the great deals are for foods I don't need to be eating and really neither do my family. I'm trying to focus more on the more healthful choices, but I can't resist the bargain and have decided to donate to food banks what we won't use.

So, I have a hobby that I enjoy to keep my mind off of food (well, sort of...I guess shopping for food isn't really keeping my mind off of it...duh), and Hip Hop Abs to help me be motivated enough to work-out. I also go to TOPS once a week for weigh-ins to help give me accountability.

The Beginning of a Blog

DAY 1
216 lbs

I've spent several evenings reading blogs posted by other women working on getting healthy and fit and have come to realize how useful this blogging may be as a tool to stay on track. Thus begins my journey into publishing a blog and I hope and pray it is also the beginning of a more consistent low-carb lifestyle.

I am the mother of 4 boys. They are all on the eve of turning another year older. Well, Ty just turned 18 last Thursday. BJ will be 20, Noah will be 10 and Mickey will be 2. I've spent the last 20 years in the shadow of my children, putting all my focus into them and now realize that I have no identity of my own. I've let my health deteriorate, and have years of regret that I cannot take back. I've avoided so many activities because of my weight.

I am trying to sort through some difficult situations in my life right now, and I just can't bare to have my weight be so out of control when I really need to have my health and sanity back.

So, I am going to call today Day 1. It isn't really the first day as I have managed to lose some weight recently, but I keep stumbling along the way and gaining a little bit back before I get back on track. So, today being Day 1 keeping this blog and trying to maintain my focus for the long-haul, I will jot down my menu and exercise activities.
